DIPLO AND TIESTO....C'MON!

seriously crazy union of these two guys to produce this one song.

Sounds like Tiesto. Feels like Diplo.

I dont even know what to say at this point. cop it. bump it. rage.

And like always. get it free.

to the 3 ppl who read this;
sry its beeen a crazy few weeks at school. i'll try n be more regular.

DRANKENSTEIN!

First of all this is by far the best name of any mix or anything ever. Trance DJ Bird Peterson felt like mixin some dirty south rap with some trance tracks for an hour of FUCKING AWESOME MUSIC. I have seriously listened to this whole mix 25 times this month. DOPE X10!

The whole thing being free is pretty great too. Another solid mix from another MAD DECENT DJ

seriously. get it there ^. now.

Beat Improvement #2

This time I want to look at a new Hood Internet song. This mixes a Julian Casablancas song (River of Breaklights) [{side note: his new album his pretty good. strokes+synth}] and an Omarion song (I get it in) Where the original Omarion song is much slower, the remix really picks up the pace. The sample is also used from the best part of the Casablancas song (the first 4 seconds of it)

Great mashup check out the originals and final product.

The Hood Internet - I Get The Hang Of It (Omarion x Julian Casablancas) by hoodinternet

XAPHOON YOU CRAZY!!

Ight so this is the mixtape/ album that i came across that made me want to start this whole thing. A lil gem called Xaphoon Jones Mixtape Vol 1. I listen to a lot of random mixtapes and usually one or two songs really shine. This mixtape is different, 90% of songs are FANTASTIC. great production value from a basement producer.

The mixtape itself is almost exclusively remixes and mashups. as far as original material goes he produces an artist named chiddy bang, who is featured on a couple of tracks. seriously bumpin jams right here.

Favorites
Radar Detector-Darwin Deez
Heard it Through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye
You need - Clipse/Led Zepplin
Stuntin Like an Atari - Lil Wayne/Theo Grams

Radar Detector originally wasn't my favorite but it grew on me after a few listens and now im a big fan. I was curious so i copped the original, its pretty solid but Xaphoon def worked his magic on it. Heard it through the grapevine is just a new take on a great song. new dance beat just steps up original danciness haha. You need is the most surprising mix i've heard in a while clipse's what happened to that boy and Led Zepplin's whole lotta love. strangely works out great. MY FAVORITE track is definitely Stuntin like an ATARI this song was actually produced by Theo Grams, another artist that Xaphoon usualyl produces for. The video game theme hits that soft spot in my heart reserved for nerdy things. Dont let that fool you though, serious bass, WEEZY and kick ass synths. great song. great mixtape. free. whats not to love?

How Low

I am not quite sure where I heard this, prolly toolin around on Hype Machine looking for remixes. This is the Bird Peterson Remix of a Ludacris song. This shit is bumppppin. This is def on the dance music side of things, with a hint of dubstep in those wobbles. Some fetures of this song that I like in particular:
Spooky Mid Synth
Video Game-ish Bass Synth
The fact that it makes me bounce in my seat as I write this.

Check it.

Beat Improvement

Fuuuuuuck missed the bus. so looks like i got some free time now haha.

This blog will showcase a ton of remixes and mashups mostly cuz i love hiphop but top40 raps sometimes are very lacking in beat awesomeness. Sorry Mr. Wayne but this is def the case for the song comfortable. Drab string instruments and minimalist drum machine are just not working. Thank goodness for our friends at The Hood Internet. These mashup experts have free mixtapes galore and post new mashups every few days.

These three songs are serious jams. The first two are on "the mixtape vol. 4" free for download on the hood internet website (linked above.) The third is a new one i heard today, I think its def an improvement on the original by kanye, but you be the judge of that.

ENJOY!

sidenote: Im working on finding a site to host mp3s for me so hopefully in the near future youll just be able to download the songs from my site...

sidenote v.2.0: To the three or four people that read this, The Hood Internet is coming to minneapolis on April 2nd at the Triple Rock. They are playing with Tobacco. Dont miss this one folks it should be a great show.

DiploDiploDiplo

Before you listen to this song I beg of you, Plug some speakers in or at the very least some headphones. Computer speakers take so much away from this song by muting the bass. That being said, I've been really into Diplo as of late especially Top Ranking and Decent Work for Decent Pay. Both Cds showcase his abilities as a top notch DJ and especially remix artist.

I really dont like the Young Folks original song. Its just kinda boring n blah. This mix is great at bringing the danciness of the melody out without going too overboard. I especially like that bassy synth (why you need better speakers.) Its still a very chill song untill the 3:11 breakdown and a 3:21 the melody double times (or maybe just speeds up a bunch) and the bass stays the same. A DJ trick which I love. It makes the bass harder hitting.

Check out Decent Work for Decent Pay n All other Diplo

I guarantee that this is not the last song from that album that you see on here so get on the Diplo bandwagon.

Feelin Funky (like always)

Awwwww shit it's the first post of the intergalactic space blog about groovy jams n bangin beats.

I thought I would start out with some Funk as a lil preview of things to come.

Although I had sporadically listened to a little bit of Toots & the Maytals here and there, I never really listened to a whole album or looked into his music very much. For some reason yesterday waiting at the bus stop I randomly put on this song Funky Kingston... I had no choice but to make a fool of myself and dance.

Right when the song starts with that hard hitting piano my knees buckled to the beat and I continue to bob to the beat throughout. This shit is fantastically funkadocious. I probably listened to the whole album three, four times that day. I plan on delving a bit deeper into the Toots-universe in the near future.

The album is Funky Kingston/In the Dark. Check it.

Also Check the song "Having a Party" (no youtubes of it out there)

Ight time to head to class, hopefully more of these in the future.

Peace,
Dr. Jesse Funkenstien
